No limit is placed on the number of items that may be borrowed. However, staff may limit quantities if there is heavy demand for a particular subject or author.
Books, magazines and cassettes may be renewed for one additional loan period if there are no requests on file for the item(s). Renewals must be made at the branch from which the item(s) was borrowed. This can be done in person or by phone.
A book that is not in the library may be put on reserve.
Reference books, like encyclopedias, are only available for
use in the library.
There are no fines for overdue materials.
When a book is overdue one week, the borrower is phoned
as a reminder. If materials are not returned within a month of
the phone call, a letter will be sent to the borrower informing
him/her of the cost of the item(s). Library borrowing privileges
will be suspended until the item(s) is returned or paid for.
You are responsible for all materials borrowed on your card and will be billed for all losses and damages.
Keep your card safe.
Report any damage to books to library staff.
Videos may be borrowed for 1 week for a $1.00 or $2.00 handling charge. A maximum of 3 videos may be borrowed at one time.
Most videos are "Home Use Only" which means they are
not to be used for public showings such as in schools, day
care centres, etc. The library does have some Public Performance
videos and other titles which are available through Public
Library Services in Brandon. Please check with library staff for
further information.
The computer catalogue (OPAC) makes searching for books much
faster, shows which branch or branches has a particular book and
lets you know if a book at your branch is already on loan. Staff
will be happy to show you how to use the system and to answer any
questions.
Each library branch has Internet stations where the public can acess the World Wide Web. Training sessions for individuals or for small groups can be arranged by appointment.
As of the summer of 1999, there is a $1.00 dollar per hour charge for Internet use.

Although library users are free to use all three branches in
the system, material from another branch in the system can also
be requested through Inter Branch Requests. There is regular
delivery between the branches and you will be notified when your
request has arrived. This service also assists with those who
wish to borrow books from one branch, but find it more convenient
to return the items to their local library branch.
If the library does not have the book you require in its collection, staff will request the book for you from another library. There is no charge for this service unless charges are made by the lending library.
In order to obtain a book from another library, talk to a
staff member; or use the Manitoba Public Library Information
Network. See the MAPLIN page for more
information.
South Central Regional Library has a number of unabridged versions of books on tape to assist those who find using regular print difficult. Additional titles can be ordered from Public Library Services (PLS) for individuals who meet the criteria.
"Talking Books" in the South Central Regional Library collection can be used by anyone. For example those wanting to "read" while doing housework or for people who spend a lot of time travelling.
This site was created through the CAP/YEP program.
